Is Anything Wrong /
Le monde me remplit d’effroi

I saw in this song a vertigo, that of the passing years; the one experienced at the idea of what it means to "settle in life" when one feels on the margins of everything; the one experienced in front of a certain model of life as a couple and in society, of which one is unsure what sense it would make to conform to it. The double question "Is anything wrong? Oh, love, is anything right?“ becomes in French « Vois comme je fige, le monde me remplit d’effroi »/“See how I freeze, the world fills me with dread”: indeed, no longer knowing what is desirable for oneself, unable to form an idea about what is going wrong or right in the world, one can only freeze, prey to disarray and panic. The song remains in French an address to the loved one, a confession of fragility, the expression of pain in feeling out of synch with the world, feeling incapable of playing the game, as well as seized with doubts about what love could resolve of a tremor, of an embarrassment, of an incomprehension in front of what life is.

Is Anything Wrong?

Written by

Lhasa de Sela

I used to say / I’m ready show me the way / Then another year or two / Would pass me by

Is anything wrong? / Oh, love, is anything right? / And how will we know / Will time make us wise?

People outside / They know just what to do / They look at me / And they think that I know too

Is anything wrong? / Oh, love, is anything right? / And how will we know / Will time make us wise?

I've found a home / Now will life begin / I can wait another year or two / But not one moment more

Is anything wrong? / Oh, love, is anything right? / And how will we know / Will time make us wise?

Le monde me remplit d’effroi

French kiss by

L’amour y change quoi ?

The World Fills Me with Dread

Translation of the

French adaptation

So much courage / Sometimes I wonder: how much of it does it take / Just to live / Does it take more than I have?

See how I freeze / The world fills me with dread / You, what do you make of it? / Does love make a difference?

As soon as I go out / People everywhere, it's crazy / Where are they going? What are they doing? / How do they stand on their feet?

See how I freeze / The world fills me with dread / You, what do you make of it? / Does love make a difference?

Do you want to save / The bird that fell from the nest? / You don't like the way I talk about myself / See me as I am

See how I freeze / The world fills me with dread / You, what do you make of it? / Does love make a difference?
