Walzer Für Niemand / Sous ton armure
Walzer Für Niemand (waltz for nobody): “niemand” translates as “nobody”, but here it is necessary to use a capital letter, as it is a proper noun: Niemand is Nobody, an intangible but constant presence; the one to whom we can entrust everything; the one who takes everything from us, to whom we owe everything, but also to whom we give everything, to whom we will bequeath everything. Niemand is always there, never shirks responsibility. At the end of the song, the singer asks it: “Was willst du von mir?”/“What do you want from me?”
Sous ton armure (under your armour) : in the French text, I made this “Niemand” a knight who never takes off his armour, a constant presence that nevertheless eludes us. Is there even a face under the iron mask? Can we hope for an answer to the question: “What do you want from me?” Niemand, a faceless knight, is a metaphor for inspiration, for the imaginative impulse, a presence as faithful as it is elusive; it is a metaphor for the artist’s desire to create, which takes everything and gives everything.

Niemand, was, was willst Du? Immer bist Du hier / Niemand, was, was willst Du von mir? / Von mir? / Von mir?
Sous ton armure
French kiss by
François Godin
Preux chevalier, chevalier blanc / Toi qui me donnes la force, l’élan / Personne ne m’est plus proche que toi / Tu me suis pas à pas
N’enlèves-tu donc jamais ton armure ?
Under Your Armour
Translation of the
French adaptation
Brave knight, white knight / You who give me strength, momentum / No one is closer to me than you / You follow me step by step
Don't you ever take off your armour? / You play the pure, you play the tough / I owe you everything, what I write, what / Keeps me standing, alive
Hollow knight, black knight / The grand ideals, the grand nights / You don’t pay them much mind, you laugh at them / Good for another time
Is there only emptiness under your armour? / About me as about the rest, say it, you don't care / Visor down, you ignore me / Everything in you seems dead
Even when everything feels the same, hold on to me / Even when everything feels the same, talk to me / Talk to me / Talk to me
